Sr. Technician


Location: Alameda, CA

Job Summary:

This dynamic position will support R&D, sustaining engineering and new product development efforts. This individual will work cross-functionally with engineering, service, and quality departments to help ensure continuous improvement of existing products and top-notch new product development. 

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Help with R&D, prototyping, testing, and refining new product ideas, components, and products.
  • Identify and implement methods of testing new components and systems.
  • PCB and system testing.
  • Writing and executing verification protocols, including defining acceptance criteria.
  • Sustaining engineering.
  • Establish and implement testing procedures that prove product design reliability, safety, and efficacy.
  • Suggest, prototype, test, and implement design improvements on existing products.
  • Test fixture design, build, calibration, and documentation.
  • Root cause and failure analysis.
  • Write work instructions for service and repair.
  • Train service personnel in new procedure.

Requirements & Professional Experience:

  • Minimum Education/Experience
  • Associate’s degree in electronics or equivalent
  • First-hand experience solving electromechanical problems in the real world
  • System, subsystem, and component/board level troubleshooting
  • Surface-mount and thru-hole soldering proficiency
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel

Other Desired Experience

  • Medical device experience under FDA design control, CGMP and/or 13485 regulations strongly preferred
  • Electromechanical devices, mechanisms, fluidics experience
  • Lab view
  • Test fixture design and development
  • Knowledge of fluid mechanics and heat transfer principles
